Fifteen years in the making, the story of Janei Hair Care was derived from the talents, creativity and determination of its two founders, Janeinee Williamson and Naneinee Ross. The story of their collaboration begins not by chance but in their childhood home in Long Island, NY. The fraternal twins, Janeinee and Naneinee have mastered the craft of “artistry meets business” successfully.
Growing up with her four sisters in the culturally rich environment of New York, Janeinee discovered early on that her siblings and friends could benefit from her interests in styling hair. As the designated hair stylist of the family by the age of eleven, Janeinee was inspired by some of the top celebrities of the day such as: Salt-N-Pepa, Toni Braxton and Halle Berry to create styles that were fashionable for the day. As her sister, Naneinee who was a bit of a tomboy and computer geek, eagerly became one of Janeinee’s earliest clients for cuts and styles…created in the kitchen of their family’s home.
In 1993, Janeinee acquired her license as a Master Stylist. Now living in Atlanta, Georgia, the metropolis of the South and working in upscale salon, Janeinee’s interests in the hair industry had become a passion for providing “hair care” to her clients… care that specifically taught how to achieve healthy hair for individuals who faced difficulties with managing issues that negatively affected their hair. (Stress, pre-mature aging, environment hazards, etc.) During this time, she continued to create styles including make-up artistry that were featured in fashion shows hosted in the Atlanta area.
After years of trying to find products for her clients that could live up to her expectations for effective “hair repair”, Janeinee looked to her twin Naneinee for support to help resolve her dilemma. Soon, the answer became very clear. They would introduce a natural haircare product derived from minerals and plant based protein engineered specifically for distinctive style and phenomenal results.
Janeinee turning to her twin Naneinee for answers was not due to their family association alone. Drawing on more than twelve years of experience in the computer industry with sales, marketing (eCommerce) and product development and distribution made her the obvious choice for collaboration. After all, Janeinee and Naneinee had already started a business together in 2005 selling apparel and products for bachelorette and “girls night out” parties.
Just like Janeinee, Naneinee has always had ambitions of being an entrepreneur. In 2004, she successfully developed a fashion accessories store on eBay and by 2007 founded Corporate Cosmo LLC, a digital marketing company. In August 2016, she founded Janei Beauty LLC, the parent company of Janei Hair.
Janeinee and Naneinee instantly set out to reinvent their brand from 2006 and in 2014 they continued to build Janei through offering beauty services. Just as Janeinee’s and Naneinee’s names are fused to create the name “Janei”, in 2016 the launch of their natural hair care line brought about products that fuse natural mineral sources and plant based protein to deliver hair that is soft, strong and resilient.
Today, Janeinee specializes in promoting healthy hair, hair repair and thinning/shedding. Naneinee continues to manage Janei Hair as an online initiative and helps to develop the company’s strategic growth initiatives. Her focus continues to be on fulfilling the vision established by Janeinee which is— maintaining a company dedicated to producing results though a true appreciation and value for its clients.
